Sorry for the laziness of not getting a blog post out last week. I know you have been checking every day saying, "when is Brent going to post again!" I kid, I kid! But seriously, I'm sorry.
Anyways lets get to it! Not a ton going on in the month of September, except I can't believe it's September already. Lifelight is coming up this weekend, and if your not excited about it you need to make sure you're still alive! Saturday at Lifelight we are asking all of those in Revive that got a wicked awesome shirt to wear it and represent! Hopefully we'll see you out there rocking your face off!
Ok let's get to the point of my title. If you have read my little info piece it shows that I am currently reading Forgotten God by Francis Chan. I was reading in chapter 4 which is titled "Why Do You Want Him?" In the chapter he talks about why exactly do you want to receive or have the Holy Spirit work in you? Is it for your own personal profit or for the glory of God? One question that was brought up was this. Do I want to lead or be led by the Spirit?
This one really hit me. I think if we call ourselves Christians we all say that we want to be led by the Spirit. But do we? When Laura and I were asked to take over the youth pastor position at Crosswalk it was a big decision. I was very nervous to take this position due to having 2 other jobs and many activities I like to take part in, along with being married. But when we decided that this is where God wanted us to be. We talk regularly about how we are happy to know that we know God wanted us to be in this position. It hasn't been easy but many things that God wants us to do aren't.
So here is my question. When God comes knocking at your door are you going to let him lead you or are you going to try and lead him to where you want to be? I know I have tried to lead God in my own way too many times. This is one of many parts in my life that need some serious work. But I pray that you who are reading this and myself put a lot more prayer and consideration into the opportunities God puts in front of us!
