What does God want to use you for?

Hello again!

Going to kick this off with just a few quick Revive announcements before I get into it.

  1. THIS FRIDAY August 19th we are going to be having a pizza and game night to welcome in those new 6th graders that will be joining us this year at the church. There is no charge. It starts at 7pm and will go until roughly 10pm. Make sure to be there it's going to be awesome!
  2. We are declaring Saturday September 3rd to be Revive shirt. Main reason for this is for all the youth that are going out to Lifelight that weekend. We want to hang out and what better way of finding you in the crowd then by sporting your bright orange Revive shirt!
  3. You may know we've been having a little competition in Revive this summer. We have broken into two teams to see who can raise the most points for their team by bringing their Bibles, friends and most importantly giving to Speed the Light. We have decided to make the grand prize for the winning team a day trip up to the Mall of America. The winning team will be going to the MOA on Saturday October 8th.

We have recently kicked off a new young adults group at Crosswalk. We are in the infant stages of this group but I am excited for what God has in store for it. So if you want more info on whats going on stay tuned to the blog here. I'll be keeping you in the loop!

Anyways to the heart of this post. As I meantioned in my first post I recently started a study on a few books of the Bible and how they continued to serve God while serving an ungodly ruler.

I've started in Daniel and am not that far in but am already blown away at how God used him. The first thing that got me in this book was that right in the first chapter it talks about how Daniel was chosen by the king but refused to defile himself to the ungodly things the king participated in. Daniel refused to compromise. That is my point for the day.

What do we compromise for? God has set before us his word. We need to be faithful to that. Daniel refused to compromise and God continued to use him in ways he probably never throught possible. Now Daniel was punished for not bowing to the kings rules at times. But God was always there and used them for his glory!

What I am trying to get at here is this. What great things are we throwing away by compromising what God has given us. I am not that old but I have had my fair share of times where God told me to something and I chose not to. I look back at some of these times and wonder what God would have done in that situation. What God could have done through me to show him to that person. Don't compromise! If there is one thing in this world we need to start doing is to STOP COMPROMISING! God has a great plan for each and every one of us but if we continue to compromise we are throwing away what God wants to do in our life and empowering the one who wants to destroy us.

Pastor Mark just posted a blog about overcoming intimidation. I highly recommend you read it. The time is now! Not tomorrow or yesterday but now.
